Transportation

Once absorbed into the blood, the chemical is carried around the body in the blood stream, and where it ends up is influenced by its structure and properties. However, some barriers exist in the body which can keep out some (but not other) chemicals, such as the blood-brain barrier which helps protect the brain, and the placenta which helps protect a foetus.
