Refugee and Migrant Workers Occupational Health and Safety Project

Daily Hazard, n81 , May 2004

pdf version (what's that?)

The London Hazards Centre is developing a proposal to set up a health and safety advice and training project for refugees and migrant workers in London. We are currently seeking funds that would enable us to provide advice and training to workers who are concentrated in the most dangerous jobs.

Our proposal has so far been received with support and enthusiasm from several refugee and migrant workers organisations including Evelyn Oldfield Unit, Migrant Training and the Refugee Council. We have also received expressions of support from the TUC and several trade unions and a meeting was held in February to discuss the proposal.

We will be setting up a Steering Committee to guide this project later this year. We particularly welcome refugees and migrant workers to take part in this committee and we would also welcome trade unionists and community activists.
