- You can type a single word or several words, for example:
a single word: asbestos
a phrase making a single subject: wood based boards
a combination of subjects: paint* nervous system
The more words you enter, the more selective your search will be:
ie the last example excludes items about paints unless the nervous system is also mentioned.
- To widen your search, type OR between terms, eg:
solvent* OR paint* - finds any items where either solvent(s) or paint(s) are mentioned,
ie it includes water-based paints and engineering/cleaning solvents
- You can use either capitals or lower case letters.
- Asterisk * is a wildcard for different word endings. eg:
paint* - will find paint, paints, painter, painters, painting, painted, paintbrush, paintbox.
reproduc* - will find reproduction, reproductive, reproduce
- The search program will try to put the most useful results first

You can use the boolean search operators 'and', 'or', 'not' and () in searching, for example

Without these booleans, swish will perform an 'and' search, for example
