Mesothelioma: the British disease
By the end of 2013 more than 60,000 people in the UK will have died from asbestos-related diseases this century. Mesothelioma deaths have risen since 2000, with 2,347 deaths reported in 2010.
Worse is to come DWP expects roughly 28,000 deaths from mesothelioma between July 2012 and March 2024.

Is there anything we can do to prevent asbestos cancer after being exposed to it for a long time ?
You’d think we were living in the dark ages.
My worry is the workers who still get exposed.
On every trade union safety reps course I have taught in the past five years (15- 20 reps usually) at least one has had a story of relatively recent exposure to asbestos.
Very frightening.
